About

A little bit about me ~ I love love love being a Marriage Celebrant. Since I was 2 years old I've seen literally hundreds and hundreds of wedding ceremonies. My mother was a Marriage Celebrant, I loved to watch her, so passionate at each ceremony, I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps and give my future couples the opportunity to experience on their own wedding day, a beautifully composed, individually created, relaxed and memorable ceremony they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

I would highly recommend Joanna as a marriage celebrant. She is very professional, informative, caring, and helpful. Any questions/concerns I had regarding our ceremony Joanna was more than happy to help and ease our minds, it was so easy dealing with Joanna she made the whole experience more enjoyable and stress free. Having Joanna as our celebrant enriched our big day as we felt so comfortable with her and she has a very calming nature.

She was understanding as I was super nervous and she made it simple for me. She adjusted her style to suit us on the day. Joanna tailored the ceremony to us. We had a number of meetings before the day as well as a practise.

do you think its important to go with a vendor who is same-sex friendly?

If that aligns with your beliefs

Joanna Ditchburn

Not necessarily.  If it turns out both hold the same qualities and beliefs, well that's great but it shouldn't matter whether people have the same beliefs or not.  What matters is that you are happy with what your vendor supplies and that you feel very satisfied with every aspect of dealings with the suppliers you have chosen :-)  Good luck with your wedding planning :-)

will i regret skipping traditions and formalities in my wedding?

Joanna Ditchburn

Traditions and formalities are different for every couple, every family.  I believe your wedding day is all about you, the bride and groom.  It's lovely and very honourable to keep tradition and certain formalities within your family / friend expectations, as long as it is what YOU want.  The only regret you will have at your wedding, is not fulfilling your own dreams and ideas you have for yourselves at your own wedding ceremony.  Of course you can include traditions, sentiments, formalities to a small or large capacity in the ceremony but just remember, you are also creating new traditions for years to come.  So remember... this is your day and you two, the bride and groom, are the most important people at your own wedding, so make it the very best day of your lives!!  Congratulations and have a wonderful, romantic and fun day :-)

Best wishes, Joanna Grist

Can you go without a rehearsal with bridal party?

Is a runsheet enough to coordinate everyone on the big day or are rehearsals necessary? If so what is the best approach for this?

Joanna Ditchburn

An onsite rehearsal is always a great option but not always convenient for the entire bridal party.  As a celebrant, I advise my couples to consider holding an onsite rehearsal with as many of the bridal party attending as possible and if this is not convenient or possible, we run through the entire rehearsal at our final meeting.  This way you, the bride and groom, know exactly what is going on and can pass details on to your bridal party.

Some couples don't have bridal party or only have 1 or 2 bridesmaids / groomsmen in their ceremony.  It doesn't matter how many, young or old, it is entirely your discretion as to whether you hold the rehearsal or not.

One tip I will give, when an onsite rehearsal has been played out, the wedding ceremony on it's day is much more organised, the bridal party (including bride and groom) look far more relaxed and confident and your photos are amazing!!

Good luck in your decision.  Congratulaitons and have a wonderful, fun and romantic wedding dy!!

Best wishes, Joanna Grist
