Which wedding traditions can you skip at your wedding?

Janet Prance Marriage Celebrant

*  The Bride doesn't have to walk down with - Father, Mother, Brother etc.   She can walk down by herself, or in fact if appropriate with the Groom.

*  Asking - but within a ceremony, it is the only area, that the partners say 'I do'!

*  Giving the Bride away - by Father - this can be opened up to included both Partners parents.  or not at all.

These are the main areas, that can be taken out altogether, or adjust to make a more personal approach

If the ceremony style is a 'Elopement Ceremony'  -  as little as 5 persons (bridal couple, 2 witnesses and Celebrant, and the   MONITUM, VOWS, SIGNING. From my experience, a personal element makes the formal requirements, special, and something special to remember.  Call me to discuss at anytime 0413 864 110.

Getting married in Australia with Work & Holiday Visa (462)?

Hi All, we are going to spend a year in Australia with my boyfriend, having a Work&Holiday Visa (462). We are engaged, and plan to get married in Australia. Is it necessary with this type of visa? Thanks a lot for your kind answer!

Janet Prance Marriage Celebrant

This is absolutely OK.  You will need to give information to a Celebrant which is required by the Australian Government to set up the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)  Once the Celebrant sets up the official paperwork for this, this has to be signed at least one month prior to the Marriage date you wish, for the ceremony.

The Service, is designed around your needs and the way I like to go is to reflect your personalities and style, in the ceremony.

If you would like to speak with me I would be delighted to go through what we can do together to achieve you dreams and wishes.

Congratulations on taking this special gift to each other - Marriage. ??  Janet Prance + 61 413 864 110

What an exciting time in your lives.... and travelling in Australia.... what an experience

Our celebrant gave us a brochure called "happily ever before and after"?

They explained why which is fine, but this brochure is really terrible haha, why is this still a thing?!

Janet Prance Marriage Celebrant

It is a National Government requirement as a Celebrant, that I present this to you both. To answer your question, this document, sets out some most important issues - when you enter any contract, you need to be informed, this is where - "Happily Ever.... Before and After" should be talked about - together.

  • Health and welfare benefits, these agencies will advise you if your benefits will change. You may lose benefits and worse if you fail to do so.
  • Information about change of name
  • Taxation after marriage

All important to set up and discuss prior to marriage, with the above.

The three headings on the back: Before Marriage, During Marriage, Marriage breakdown...are most important to know about help along the way.

  • Being informed, gives you confidence in your life ahead, together.

Tips from our specialists

Just need a quote?
It helps to provide...

  • Your contact details
  • Mention your wedding date
  • Ask if they are able to provide a PA/microphone if necessary
  • We highly recommend organising to meet your celebrant in person if possible
