The Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM) is a form that any couple marrying in Australia must complete and lodge with their celebrant. I help couples to complete the information on the NOIM and use an online system which makes it so easy. The NOIM is considered lodged when I receive and witness it.

If one of you is unable to be present at the lodgment of the NOIM, there are several ways to meet the requirements, which I can let you know.

If you are overseas, you can complete the NOIM and have it witnessed by a public notary, then send it to me for lodging.

If you're marriage does not take place within the 18 months of lodgement of the NOIM, it will expire.

Any couple getting married in Australia must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). The NOIM can be lodged 18 months and up to one month before your wedding date.

When you lodge the NOIM, I will need to see originals of your:

  • Birth Certificate; and
  • Passport (Australian or overseas) or other photo ID such as a driver's licence.

A scanned copy of your original ID can be emailed to me.

If either of you have been married before, I will need to see evidence of how that marriage ended (e.g. death, divorce or nullity).

If one of you is under 18 years of age, you will need to be given consent and court approval. That document will need to be shown to me.

This isn’t a problem. Just let me know when you make your booking so I can explain the procedure and how to contact the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).

An interpreter will be required to attend meetings and your wedding ceremony on the day.

If you have identification and divorce documents that are not in English, you will need to have these translated, and at your cost.

My Luxe ceremony package includes a rehearsal. I suggest couples book in a rehearsal time with me in the week of their wedding, probably not the day before as they have too much going on at that time. However if that's the only time they can get their wedding party and anyone else involved in their ceremony, then of course we do it then.

Being a full time celebrant I'm available during the day and in the evening for a rehearsal.
The rehearsal is really important for making sure that you and your wedding party know how the ceremony will run, the special moments that need them all to be ready, timing the walk into the song that has been selected etc. It's also a great moment for members of the wedding party to meet each other if they don't already know them.

I take my PA system along too so we can play their entrance and exit song, and also practise reading their vows using the microphone.

I offer a vow coaching session with all of my couples who choose to include personal vows in their ceremony. I have also written a "Wedding Vow Inspo" guide that leads couples through a step-by-step process to plan and write their own vows. I also offer to read their vows and give them feedback on aspects like the length, the content, the tone and if it complements their partner's.

I also have samples of wedding vows they can choose from if they don't want to write their own.

I provide a professional PA system with a choice microphones (usually hand held for the couple and headset or lapel for me).

I also supply a beautiful pen for signing of the marriage certificates and if you have written your personal vows, I print these in a vow card for you to read from on the day.

Listened to what we wanted when we asked for a simple wedding ceremony. Very accommodating and was amazing at walking and guiding us through each step before the big day!

So happy that we had Anne as our celebrant for our recent wedding. She impressed us from the first meeting, was personable and listened to what we wanted, proactive in communication and follow up leading up to the day, and helped make our ceremony personal and very special. After our wedding day she followed up and provided helpful guidance re change of name process. Would highly recommend Anne!

Anne was simply superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to be our celebrant. She was extremely well organised and responsive to our requests. She made sure our ceremony was the perfect fit for us. She took the time to get to know us and what we wanted and executed it perfectly. We were extremely happy with her work and we highly recommend her. She made our day so memorable and we can’t thank her enough.

Non-religious Celebrant in a Chapel

Hi, My Fiancé and I have booked in through the Cooma Parish to use the Thredbo Chapel for our big day (and paid in advance). If we have declined using the catholic priest can we use a non-denominational Civil celebrant, or are we required to use a religious celebrant?

Anne Miller Marriage Celebrant

You will need to ask if they allow non-religious celebrants to solemnise marriages in their chapel.

Hello. I currently hold a Working Visa here in the UK. Could I go to Australia and get married?

My partner will be coming from Philippines. Can we possibly go to Australia and get married? Thank you.

Anne Miller Marriage Celebrant

Hi

Anyone can be married in Australia if you meet the legal requirements which are - you are not married to anyone else and over 18 years of age. You need to lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage with a Marriage Celebrant no later than one month before the date you wish to be married in Australia. You need prove your identity and place of birth, which your passport will do. You also need to provide divorce certificates if previously married. The NOIM will need to be witnessed by a Public Notary in the Philippines if you won't be in Australia at least one month before your wedding date... hope this info helps.

Do we need a marriage celebrant?

Can we exchange vows on our wedding day , and just get registered at the registry office on separate day- and therefore not require a celebrant? And if so- is this more cost effective? Thank you

Anne Miller Marriage Celebrant

Hi Bessie Loo and the only reason you need a celebrant is if you want to do a legal marriage ceremony. If you just want to have a ceremony with a friend running it for you you do not need a celebrant. To be married a the government registry office here in Perth it costs $409 which doesn't inlcude a certified copy of your marriage certificate which is an additional $53. Celebrant fees vary greatly. My question to you is though, what experience do you wany for your wedding day? If your answer is amazing, then I'd look for a celebrant who will guide you through the legal documents and create a personalized ceremony that reflects you as a couple.
