Get Expert AdviceDo celebrants come with marriage documents and how early can I file them after the wedding?
I was wondering if marriage celebrants usually come with their own marriage documents included in their package? Also, is there a timeframe of when I should file my marriage documents after the wedding? How early is too early/how long can I wait? Thanks!
I know how important a celebrant is, but how much is too much?
One celebrant I like charges $1200, but I know a lot of celebrants charge half of that. Why is there such a difference? Is it comparable to music in that it's a "taste" thing? Or a talent thing? It's not like I can "taste test" like a cake or listen to a song.. it's hard to justify because by the time you get the service, you've LONG paid and if you're disappointed it's too late! Advice please!

You choice is very personal and as many have stated pricing can range from $350-$1200+
Some celebrants like myself offer different packages at a number of prices to suit all types of budgets. It is also important to get along with your celebrant. You are right it is important to have the right celebrant for you. Initial meetings are a great way to get a feel for celebrants and what they have to offer. It is important to have a celebrant that wants to make the ceremony unique and all about the bride and groom.
In roder to get to know my bride and groom I provide them with questions to answer to get an insight into their relationship, meet with them so I can have a conversation and get to know them personally and also provide them with a USB full of inspiration. All of these give me and insight into the type of ceremony the couple would like and it also provides them with the opportunity to have a say.
It is important that you pick someone who wants to work with you as it is your day and it should be done your way :)
All the best

I just need a celebrant and a license
How do I go about this? Do I need forms to fill out? It will be a very very simple wedding. Just need someone to do it please.
Katie Clayton - Happily Ever After Celebrant Services
Hi,
You can defiantly have a small intimate wedding that can just consist of legal wording and vows. As other celebrants have already stated there is legal paperwork that needs to be filled out no later then one month before the date of marriage known as a Notice of Intended Marriage and there are some forms of ID that needs to be sighted at this time.
You will also need to have at least two people present on the day that are over the age of 18 that can sign off on the legal documents acting as witnesses.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at anytime with any questions I am more then happy to help.
The best of wishes.

Hi Cindy,
It appears that other celebrants have covered this for you. But all marriage documents will be supplied but the Marriage certificate, help you completed it and also explain any requirements such as the need for 2 witnesses do sign the marriage certificate on the date of the wedding.
The only document that can be signed din advance in the NOIM which can be signed 18months out from the date of the wedding and at a minimum one month before the wedding. All other documents are signed close to the date or on the day of the wedding, but as I mentioned one of the main responsibilities of a celebrant is to make sure all legal paperwork is completed correctly and submitted within the allocated time frames to the relevant bodies.
In terms of name change documentation after the wedding, may celebrants can help direct you the the right area. Some like myself will send you an email explaining how to apply for a name change.
Best Wishes
