Both parties must be 18 years old. If one of th parties is under 18 you will need consent from a legal guardian.

The Notice of Intent to Marry (NOIM) needs to be accepted by the Celebrant one month prior to the wedding date, unless a Shortening of Time has been applied for. Once the Celebrants recieves the NOIM they enter it into BDM (Births, Deaths and Marriages) of the state in which you’ll be married The Declaration of Marriage needs to be signed before you’re married, this is to ensure you aren’t married to anyone else! marrying while already married to someone else is a federal offence called Bigamy and can land you and the Celebrant in gaol –lets not do that!

At the wedding, the legal requirements are very minimal!

1. The Celebrant must say the Monitum, and you both need to say the legal vows, eg. I call upon all here present to witness that I (your full name) take you (their full name) to be my lawful wife/husband/partner.

2. Then both of you, your two witnesses and the Celebrant sign the Official Marriage Certificate and the Commemorative Certificate 

The Celebrant then registers your marriage within 14 days of the ceremony.

It’s not up to the Celebrant to order your Official Marriage Certificate, but this is something I offer in my packages!

Otherwise you can opt for it yourself and pay the fee of $60

There is a legal requirement to do the Legal Vows, Yes... its only very small. 

My personal belief is that your marriage ceremony should be exceptional, and radiate total awesomeness. Your day your way means you get to choose if you want to do vows or not. To achieve a really personable and intimate "out of this world" awesome ceremony I think it's worth exchanging vows that matter to you. Words that are yours and yours only. 

You can probably tell that i'm pretty passionate about personal vows, and I have endless ideas, tips and ticks up my little sleeve to help guide you. But if you don't want to, then that's that. But I will try and persuade you ;)
