OVERVIEW

If the thought of your guests yawning through your wedding ceremony gives you the shivers, then you'll love Jeanne-Clare of Ardent Celebrations.

This Melbourne-based marriage celebrant, dance teacher, and MC isn't your usual celebrant; she's much more lively and entertaining — there'll be no stuffy, overly formal ceremonies with Jeanne-Clare at the helm.

This captivating persona was honed through years of performing on comedy stages and an improv course, making Jeanne-Clare incredibly skilled in public speaking. As such, she's also an engaging, entertaining MC, and will delight and inform your guests in equal measure.

A natural wordsmith, Jeanne-Clare will ensure your fun, emotional wedding ceremony is an accurate reflection of you both, and will also — of course — reflect your wishes, journey, and beautiful love for one another.

"JC was the MC (yep MCJC) at our wedding, and she was amazing. Not only did she keep our wedding fun and fresh, but she also helped James with writing his vows. He was really nervous about them, and JC was amazing. JC totally got what we were asking for, nailed the high energy and fun mood we wanted, and kept our friends talking about our wedding months later. She's a legend!" — Laura

What you'll love about working with Ardent Celebrations for your Melbourne wedding:

  • Celebrant, dance teacher, and MC. Ardent Celebrations' Jeanne-Clare is one multi-talented woman! This Melbourne marriage celebrant is a 'slashie' if there ever was one. She crafts and officiates ceremonies, teaches first dances, and has a background in comedy, making her one funny MC!
  • Great sense of humour. Jeanne-Clare loves having a laugh with her couples and enjoys nothing more than a good pun, of which, she says, "I unapologetically love puns. I'll make one good one for every ten, but that doesn't stop me trying. If the thought of a pun in your service makes you matrigroany, then I will not include them."

About

My love of weddings was kick-started on April 9th 1994, the first wedding I ever went to. Joy, family, food, and fun times on the dance floor. BLISS! As someone with a name that is difficult to pronounce, you can be assured that I’ll get yours right! I grew up and spent most of my life living in the inner-north (Brunswick and Thornbury before they were cool) and moved for love to the Yarra Ranges shire in December 2020 with my wonderful partner, and now husband, Ashley.

FAQ

Nope! All of my prices include use of my PA system for the duration of the wedding ceremony.

Sure do! I love sticking around to MC the party afterwards. You can also just book me to MC if you've already found a celebrant.

Of course! I'm a firm believer that if you can walk you can dance. My lessons are tailored to your skills. No matter what, I'm going to make you look like superstars!

If you've read this far and you're keen to know more, please get in touch via your favourite contact platform. There may be some delays with owls or carrier pigeons. If we have a bit of a chat and you say "I do" to my services, then we get the ball rolling by getting some boring stuff out of the way:

  • Signing my personal (and not too long) service agreement
  • Booking fee
  • Initial paperwork

Then it's time for the fun stuff! Getting to know you better through questionnaires and conversations to put together the BEST day for you both!

If I am struck down with everyone's least favourite C-word then I will find a replacement celebrant for your big day. They will read the script that you have already approved so there won't be any crazy surprises. You also won't have to deal with additional payments. That will all happen in the background between me and my replacement.

Your wedding won't be able to go ahead on the planned day. I know, it sucks. I will work with you both to find a different date or help transfer the ceremony to a different celebrant if I am booked. I do not charge any additional fees if you or your fiancé can't make your own wedding due to a stay-at-home order. All mama-bear JC can really advise is to stay safe in the lead-up to your wedding and eat your veggies.

Throughout the entire process, JC was supportive, encouraging and assured in her work. JC was so helpful in planning our day out and making sure the ceremony flowed smoothly, containing everything we wanted. JC has a lovely demeanour and is very knowledgeable, which helped settle our planning nerves and jitters. JC regularly checked in with us along our planning process, and made sure we had everything sorted for the wedding. JC has a great process for collecting stories and moments from the happy couple’s life together which she synthesises into a touching speech, delivered in a genuine manner at the ceremony. We absolutely loved having JC as our celebrant and highly recommend her to anyone seeking a celebrant for their special day.

Thank you very much Matt for this wonderful review! I am thrilled that you felt supported and encouraged by me throughout the process: easing nerves and jitters is what I'm all about so you can enjoy yourselves and have the best day. It was an absolute pleasure getting to be your celebrant!

July 2023

We're so happy we found JC! From the very first meeting she was so funny, friendly, easygoing, and she asked us all the right questions that we didn’t even know we needed to be asked. We wanted to keep things light and fun, and she gave us suggestions that suited us perfectly. We had a garden wedding on a rainy Melbourne day and she managed to snag us the best spot in the garden for the most picturesque photos! Even with a tiny wedding on a wet day, JC made the whole thing feel like a party and everyone asked if she was a friend of ours because we got along so well and laughed like we’d been mates forever. The whole process was a breeze and we could not have asked for a better celebrant! JC, thank you for helping to create a day we’ll never forget.

Thank you so much Dani for this very lovely review! Tiny wedding with a whole lot of love and fun! It was an absolute pleasure getting to know the two of you through this process and I always loved our catch-ups! I'm so happy you found me too and I wish you both all the best!

September 2022

During our wedding reception, we had so many comments from our guests as to how beautiful our wedding ceremony was, and how lovely it was to hear about our story. JC, thank you for making our ceremony so personalised, so perfectly us. Despite all of our loved ones sitting before us, we felt as if we were in our own little ‘love bubble’ during our vows. You have been so lovely to work with over the last few months - and the added bonus of your fabulous dance lessons made the lead up to our wedding so much fun. We can tell that you have great passion and skill in your job. A BIG THANK YOU - Katie & Glen

Katie

Ardent Celebrations

Oh my goodness, thank you Katie & Glen for this lovely review! I am thrilled that the ceremony perfectly captured the two of you. It was wonderful putting it together in addition to teaching you both for your first dance. Through our lessons together I really got to know you both better and see just how in love you are. Wonderful people like you are the reason why I love my job so much. Thank you! :)

October 2024

Having JC as a celebrant was such a lovely experience. I had no idea what celebrants did and I was put at ease with her wealth of knowledge and experience that she had in the wedding space. JC was very prompt, available for online and in person meetings, answered any questions we had, and was so thorough in the timeline of our ceremony (which I loved). Her attention to detail was much appreciated and her story was unique, emotive and truly captured the wholesomeness of our relationship. She stepped out of the shot for big photo moments, but as you can see by our pictures we're both very happy that JC was the one to pronounce us husband and wife. I highly recommend her! Thankyou for making our day so special JC!

We cannot recommend JC highly enough. What a friendly, easy going, lovely and professional person! As our celebrant JC delivered us the most perfect ceremony. She took the time to get to know us and absolutely nailed our brief; delivering a ceremony that was personal, funny, but heartfelt and not too long! Most importantly, it was exactly what we wanted. We received so many comments from guests about how great it was! Not once did we feel rushed or uncomfortable throughout the planning process, nor on the day. We also had a few dance lessons with JC for our “first dance”. Not only were these lessons SO enjoyable, but with the patience and expertise of JC we were able to enjoy a thoroughly beautiful first dance on our wedding day. We cannot thank her enough and cannot recommend her highly enough; do yourself a favour and get her involved in your wedding day!

Friend conducting our ceremony

If I have a friend conducting my ceremony and a qualified celebrant there to do the legal parts, can my friend pronounce us husband and wife at the end?

Ardent Celebrations

Yes :)

The pronouncement is not a legal part of the ceremony. Provided your celebrant says the Monitum (Celebrant Authority) in front of your and your two witnesses and does all of the paperwork, your friend can do everything else.

Debbie D

What should we be asking potential celebrants to make sure they're a good fit for us?

What are some of the things we need to consider or ask of a potential celebrant before we decide which one to go with?

Ardent Celebrations

Any "good fit" is going to be different depending on what you're after for your ceremony.

If a potential couple asked me to describe one of my favourite ceremonies as a celebrant and why, I think it would give the couple an accurate idea of what my vibe is like and if I'd be a good fit for them.
