I offer lots of choices - but the decison is yours, whether simple and relaxed, romantic or more traditional.
About
I live on the Gold Coast Broadwater with my husband Neil, and Charlie the unruly poodle. I majored in Speech and Drama and College and later became a children’s librarian. Now I love my role as Celebrant, presenting unique and special ceremonies, really enjoy writing the Love Story of my couples. There is always something funny or romantic to share, and it is often a highlight of the ceremony.

Has any other bride done this at one of your weddings?
Kate's Ceremonies
You can certainly walk down the aisle by yourself - whatever feels right!
As a Celebrant I think it's one of the magical moments of the ceremony.
One suggestion is that the groom waits with the Celebrant at the front, but when you reach the end of the red carpet you pause, and he goes down the aisle, offers his arm, and walks you in.
Is it okay to stand the opposite way at the altar?
I know the bride is meant to stand on the left in our culture (and opposite in Jewish ceremonies), but can I stand on the right?
Kate's Ceremonies
Yes!
Sometimes the bride has a hair style or dress that works better one way than another.
Sometimes the bride or the groom has a hearing lossin one ear and they need to be able to hear the ceremony and the vows to repeat after me.
Sometimes it is to be a liile bit different.
My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?
Hello, My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?
Kate's Ceremonies
I don't find it awkward when only the bride receives a ring. Some grooms prefer not to wear a ring due to their occupation or just personal preference. The Celebrant would offer you some words for the groom to say when placing the ring on the brides left hand, and you can leave it at that. Or the bride can repeat after the Celebrant some words of love and thanks, without underlining the fact that she is not giving a ring to the groom. It would be a shame to buy one just to include in the ceremony.
