I knew from the moment we met Sandie that she would be a great celebrant. She has a lovely way about her that puts you at ease. In our initial meeting Sandie explained the whole process to us clearly and listened carefully to how we wanted a ceremony to be. Sandie provided us with a script for the ceremony beforehand so we had the opportunity to change anything. However, it was brilliant so we didn't need to change much at all! She conducted the ceremony flawlessly and it was exactly what we wanted and asked for. Sandie genuinely cared about our special day and delivered what we asked for. Thank you so much Sandie! Sandie was an amazing celebrant to work with. I felt she went above and beyond from the moment we met her, to ensure that our special day was perfect. She spent time getting to know us, learning about us and coming up with a script/plan for the ceremony that suited us to a tee. While our ceremony was traditional in some ways, in others it wasn’t and Sandie was able to adapt. We had a hand fasting ceremony and she even bought the material for us and hand sewed it, something we will keep as a memory forever. I couldn’t recommend Sandie more highly enough.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Sandie is extremely thorough, personable, empathetic and joyous. Has so much to offer by way of advice in structure, readings, phrasing, and general order and run of ceremony. Not only that, but she has a gentle and non-invasive demeanour which was noticeably appreciated by our guests. So great! Not just a celebrant, but a friend who guided us along the way. Sandie is a very nice, warm, caring and professional celebrant who delivered an unforgettable wedding ceremony to us. Her voice tone is warm, gentle and polite. She hosted a small, warm and elegant ceremony for us, which let me feel as if I’m holding a real mini wedding. She will send out detailed email for instructions before the day, and will attend to any questions and issues before and after the ceremony. Due to the manifest error by the organisation, the postcode was wrong on our commemorative certificate, once we point it out to her, she makes her best endeavors to help us rectify it and submit the application to NSW birth, death and marriage as soon as she can. Should I change my last name?

Hello and thanks for your question which is very valid because many people want to know about changing their surname or family name upon marrying.

The short answer is you don't have to, unless you and your partner really want to.

The act of getting married (in NSW) does not change your name.

If your question is regarding the signing of the documents on the day of your marriage ceremony, then you should sign all documentation on the day, and in all processes leading up to your marriage ceremony, as it appears on all your identifying documents.

Travel arrangements, passport applications, visa applications, anything official, should all be made in your existing name until such time as you actually go through the process of changing your name officially through your relevant government body.
