OVERVIEW

I love nothing more than turning life events into memories that will last a lifetime.

Working with couples to plan out their special day is so important to ensure they get the ceremony they have dreamed about.

Listening to couples tell me their story helps me to assist them to include small elements into their day that will really make it one to remember for not only them, but for their family and friends also.

I have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from Easy Weddings four years in a row 2019 to 2022 - thank you to my fabulous couples for reviewing me and allowing me to win these awards. It was my pleasure to officiate at your weddings.

What a year it has been for us all in Victoria. Now with lockdowns and restrictions in the past and confidence returning, I currently have good availability for 2022/23, so please contact me at Memories and Moments in Time for more information or to make a booking.

About

In 2018, my niece got engaged and I become a celebrant to officiate at her wedding. I set up Memories and Moments in Time after her wedding, as I found supporting people in love to take the next step in their relationship was so rewarding. I have been married for over 25 years and recently renewed my marriage vows – there is something really special about two people making a public declaration of their love. Contact me and let’s turn your wedding into a lasting memory.

FAQ

Most celebrants will ask you to bring your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with you and ID to be able to prove your identity.

There is a legal requirement that the celebrant verifies your identities. The documents need to be original, the most common are either your Passport or Birth Certificate. If you choose to use your Birth Certificate, please ensure that you provide your current Drivers Licence to be able to produce photographic evidence of your identity.

Don’t panic – we will just move to our backup plan that we discussed in our initial meeting. So sit back in your car and enjoy the ride to your special day – we have it all covered.

Its ok, you have enough on your mind – you don't need to memories them, just let them be from your heart. But just in case take a breath and read from the card, which I will have ready for you with your vows printed on them. Remember - I am there to take the stress out of your day and deliver you the ceremony of your dreams.

Traditionally this is correct, however at a civil wedding you can choose to stand where you like. Sometimes it is nice for the couple to face each other and at other times to face their family and friends. We can talk about this as we plan your special day - remember it is your day and you can do anything you want.

A wedding is a special moment in our lives, for some it brings back memories of past experiences, and for others hopes and dreams of the future.

A wedding is a milestone that allows for a couple to publicly declare their love and commitment to each other. The day needs to reflect your personal style and taste. Be it traditional, sincere, laidback, fun, grand or intimate – speaking to me and telling me your story will assist me to plan your wedding and make it a memorable moment in time.

It is your day and everything in your ceremony needs to reflect you and your partner’s wants and needs. There are a large number of rituals available to suit all styles. When we meet up we can discuss these as we go through my Wedding Kit and plan your special day.

Across Australia, the costs for the services of a civil marriage celebrant vary considerably. Please don't base your choice of a celebrant just on cost. Choosing a celebrant is a very personal choice - you might save $100 - $200 using a cheaper civil celebrant who only does 1 or 2 weddings a year, or someone who is new. But remember it is the connection that you make with the celebrant and how they can tell your story and deliver on your dream day that is most important. A good celebrant will spend between 10 and 20 hours planning, writing, meeting you, attending a rehearsal, filing the legal paperwork, officiate on the day and ensures that your wedding goes to plan and that you get to enjoy the moment you have been waiting for. Let your wedding be remembered for the right reasons, and not because of the wrong reasons, but you save that $100 - $200. If you have a strict budget, call me and let me see how I can help you - please dont let price be your main decider when selecting a celebrant.

October 2022

Right from our first meeting with Dean, he put us at ease and guided us through each step of the process - from preparation and the important legal paperwork, to the rehearsal, and on the big day itself. Upon arriving at the ceremony, Dean was there to meet the bridal car and put me at ease. I thought I would feel rushed between arriving at the ceremony and walking down the aisle, but Dean helped to slow it down and make sure I was ready before we launched into the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful and such a special part of our day. Thanks Dean!

We highly recommend choosing Dean to officiate your ceremony! He took the time to understand what we wanted and created a ceremony that was very personal to us that we were able to share with our friends and family. He's very organised and will be one less thing to worry about with all the other stuff going on when planning a wedding. Thanks for your time Dean! Thank you for making our wedding day great!

Memories and Moments in Time - Dean Eddy Civil Marriage Celebrant

Hello Clare and Josh, Thank you for your email and lovely feedback and review. I am so pleased to read that you had a good time at your wedding, and that your family and friends have been giving you so many complements on how lovely the wedding was. I feel the ceremony was very you, you both looked so relaxed and “in the moment” which was a lovely thing to observe and be a part of. I wish you both all the best for the future. Once again thank you for letting me officiate at your wedding. Regards Dean

My mum is very Catholic and wants me to have a Catholic priest at my wedding

However, my partner does not. Is there any way I could combine the two to keep both parties happy? I want some Catholic elements, but not the whole service.

Memories and Moments in Time - Dean Eddy Civil Marriage Celebrant

The wonderful thing about having a civil ceremony officiated by a civil celebrant, means you have the flexibility to craft your ceremony the way you like it. This means you can include different components/people into the service. This should help you keep everyone happy and ensure your day is filled with lasting memories for everyone. Happy planning Dean

Which wedding traditions can you skip at your wedding?

Memories and Moments in Time - Dean Eddy Civil Marriage Celebrant

For me the crafting of the perfect ceremony depends on the needs of the couple.

Often, I am asked if a Bride needs to be ‘given away’. Sometimes it is nice that the Bride is escorted down the aisle with her farther and sometime her mother – or both.

Other times the Bride will enter on her own – either way it is about two people coming together to start a new life – a new partnership together.

When planning about the processional, speak to your family and ask what they would like, how they would like to be involved. It can be a really touching moment to witness the father of the Bride and the Groom shake hands and witness the exchange of understanding and importance of the moment.

At the end of the day it is about making not only yourself happy – but giving those around you the opportunity to contribute to your big day.

What are the most important things to include in wedding vows?

Memories and Moments in Time - Dean Eddy Civil Marriage Celebrant

Your wedding vows are a reflection of yourself, your story and your promise for the future – crafting them can at times be a little difficult and stressful. However, if you write from the heart and with a little help from your marriage celebrant, you should be able to write something that is meaningful and reflect your personality.

Your vows don't always have to be rainbows and butterflies – however a pinch of love and emotion does go a long way. Don't worry about memorising them your celebrant should have them printed out and ready for you just in case – these can then become a memento from the day.
