About
When not bringing people together, you will likely find me relaxing at the beach, elbow-deep in the garden, practicing my yoga, or hanging out with my four cats. I studied Zoology and Botany and am a wildlife rescuer because of my deep love for animals. I’ve been a nurse forever (I’m still registered) but currently work as a laboratory technician dealing with plants. And I love, love traveling. One of my most cherished memories is climbing the Virunga mountains in Uganda to see the gorillas.

Once you have chosen your wedding date and venue, it is recommended you select your celebrant. Particularly if you want to be able to choose a celebrant that suits you.
Remember that legally the latest you can lodge your intention to marry is one calendar month before your wedding date. You should also take into account the busiest time of the year for a celebrant and this is generally October through to February.
Anyone can be married here in Australia, as long as they can meet all of the legal requirements and have all of the original, necessary supporting documents such as valid passports. The same applies if you're here on a student or travel visa. Just remember that Australian marriages are 'recognised' in most other countries so if you want another ceremony when you return to your home country, it can only be a commitment ceremony.
I always have a professional Mipro707 PA system available at no extra charge. I also provide a table and two chairs for the signing of the marriage documents.
Any other equipment needs to be supplied by you e.g. if you decide to include a sand ceremony then you will need to obtain the sand and containers required.
Absolutely, but the decision to have a rehearsal is totally up to you. I usually recommend a rehearsal so everyone is comfortable with what will happen on the day and often calms nerves. This allows everyone to know the order of the ceremony as well as where the bridal party will stand.
It's also a good opportunity to make sure all the equipment is working correctly and that everyone involved in readings, witnessing, etc., knows what's expected of them.
It's not necessary to run through the ceremony from start to finish but it's certainly a good idea to have a meeting in the weeks leading up to the wedding to step through the details and answer any questions people might have. It is also an opportune time to sign the second bit of legal paper, the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage.
The Marriage Certificate you receive at the end of your Ceremony is often referred to as a ceremonial Certificate. Within 14 days, the Celebrant must lodge all of your marriage paperwork to the relevant state's Registry of Births Deaths, and Marriages for your official Certificate.
The timeline for your official marriage certificate to become available will depend on the time of year and backlog the BDM may be experiencing, but you should receive it within 7-10days.
There are many factors why some Celebrants charge more than others. Some celebrants only present the legal wordings and legal paperwork. Other celebrants go to an enormous amount of energy and time into writing a ceremony unique and individual to you. And don't forget the other little things like rehearsals, meetings and the paperwork that is required to ensure the ceremony is legal.
Having said this, I always believe and have encouraged potential clients to NEVER shop by price. After all, your wedding ceremony is the most intimate part of your entire day where the bride and groom will be expressing their love for each other. A good ceremony also sets the tone for the rest of your wedding day.
I am always conscious of ensuring my outfit will match the style/aesthetics of your ceremony. I have photos of myself in an array of dresses and I get you to choose which you prefer. I take the time to get my hair, makeup and dress to fit the style you want. It's as easy as that. However, if you are having a themed wedding such as Star Wars, then you would be expected to provide the costume.
Legal requirements aside, I tend to play a significant role at your ceremony, from emotional support to guide you as you make promises to each other, to helping coordinate your friends and family, even offering a wealth of advice for the entire wedding planning process.
Your wedding is one of the most magical days of your life, but it can also be the most nerve-wracking. I can put you at ease during the ceremony and can confidently tackle any unexpected surprises that may crop up.
I would love your pet to be in your ceremony. I have made a wedding wagon for just such an occasion and there's no extra cost to use it. Imagine your furry friend as the ring bearer, bridesmaid, or groomsman. But be sure to check with the venue to clarify they are happy to accommodate your furry friend.

We are having just a small wedding - 20 guests. It will be a simple ceremony followed by the reception. We don't want to spend too much, but would like a celebrant who can make the short amount of time special.

If you're like me, the budget is the main determining factor. Followed by how well I get along with the vendor, who, in this case, is the celebrant. I prefer not to deal with overly assertive individuals, but I also dislike those who lack conviction. Ultimately, it's important to feel at ease with the celebrant's suggestions regarding your ceremony, but you should have the final say.
Can I submit a NOIM to the registry before my divorce is finalised?
My divorce (joint application)is currently booked in to be heard August 7th and we are planning to be married on September 22nd. Can we lodge a NOIM to make sure we meet the 1-month requirement whilst the divorce is being processed and show it finalised before the wedding day?

You're correct in that your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be lodged with your chosen marriage celebrant at least one calendar month prior to your intended wedding date. In relation to your specific situation with a pending divorce, it is possible to submit your NOIM and proceed with your wedding as long as you provide your divorce certificate prior to the wedding day.
Elopement In A Hotel Room
I'm thinking of eloping in a nice hotel suite/room. Do we have to advise the hotel of an elopement if it's just going to be in the hotel room with 2 witnesses?

The primary goal is to make your elopement a special and memorable experience. If you are going to ask the hotel for any special arrangements then it's best to work closely with them to ensure that everything goes smoothly on your big day. If you don't need their help, then I wouldn't worry about notifying them.
