FAQ
As your Celebrant I will take care of all your legal documentation, which means the solemisation of marraige is a legal ceremony and as such there are items that are required to be undertaken in accordance with the Marriage Act, 1961 in Australia.
After your ceremony I will forward you information on how to apply for your registration of marriage certificate with the Births, Deaths and Marriages in your State.
It can be daunting when you first meet your celebrant, and it's very important that you feel comfortable with her/him. Here are some things to consider:
Your Celebrant will be very prepared when you meet and will most likely share all this information with you, however if you are uncertain about anything, ensure you are able to contact your Celebrant as many times as you need.
This isn't a common question and should be arranged before the wedding.
If you're arriving altogether eg bridesmaids and other members of the family, you will want to consider someone close to you to collect all your bags when you arrive and put them in a safe place during your ceremony.
You may like to give your bags to a close family member or friend, before you leave home and they can take your bag to the venue for you.
Your venue coordinator may arrange for this and lock your bags up during the ceremony, so discuss with your coordinator or wedding planner.

Thank you so much Chloe. Being a Celebrant for you and Michael was such a pleasure. We started with not wanting too much, just quick and simple and not wanting to say too much ... to having 'your amazing story' to share about your time together with all your guests. How much fun! Your story was amazing as was working with you as your celebrant. Thank you for allow me to share in such a special day with you.

How can I have my dad marry us and it still be a legal marriage? How does this affect the price of a celebrant, and how does it change the ceremony?
By my side Celebrant
What a special moment this would be to have your Dad conduct your wedding for you both and your guests!
There are certainly ways he can have the lead role in your wedding ceremony. He can conduct all components and write your script, the only requirement you will have is to have a registered marriage celebrant conduct all the legal components of the wedding. You should discuss with your Celebrant your ceremony, so that the legal components are conducted in the correct order which will ensure your ceremony flows naturally.
If you would like your Dad to conduct the legal components, he will be required to successfully complete a Certificate IV in Celebrancy and apply for registration with the Attorney Generals Department. Depending on when your wedding is planned, it may be worthwhile bringing in a registered marriage celebrant to ensure you have a legal ceremony.
Many Celebrants will have a 'legal or elopement' package available to you, usually at a reduced cost to a full ceremony.
How to get married in Australia?
We are thinking of getting married next year's whilst in Adelaide. Can you have a celebrant legally marry you at a family house in the garden or have you got to go to hotel?
By my side Celebrant
Yes most definitely, garden weddings are beautiful. This is the beauty of having a registered marriage celebrant as they attend some beautiful locations to conduct weddings. My mother was married in her back garden!
You will need to ensure you have your Notice of Intended Marriage completed a minimum of 1 month before your ceremony and provided your ID documentation to your celebrant to ensure your marriage is legal.
How do you organise a vow renewal?
I was married overseas and would like a Vow renewal in Australia with family. Will my Celebrant need proof of my marriage certificate and a Statutory declaration to proceed.
By my side Celebrant
Many couples are chosing destinations weddings, which means there could be family and friends who are unable to attend. A vow renewal is a wonderful ceremony to have where you can be with your Australian family.
Like a wedding, a vow renewal is made up of the same beautiful components, each with its own purpose and meaning to you both, only without the legal requirements.
There is no requirement for any proof of your marriage or Statutory declaration as it is not a legal ceremony.
Couples hold a vow renewal for many reasons, like yourself you married overseas, or it may have been many years since you first walked down the aisle together, or your anniversary could be an occasion you would like to celebrate by the making of new promises and commitments to each other.
I hope you have a wonderful day renewing your vows with your Aussie family.
