OVERVIEW
I'm a Melbourne Marriage Celebrant - a teller of stories, a weaver of tales and I just love creating wedding ceremonies that everyone can enjoy. A ceremony that I've written especially for you, in celebration of your love story.
A ceremony that's warm and engaging, where your personalities set the mood. Simple and genuine, light hearted and humorous, formal and traditional - it's whatever is right for you. Never overly long, definitely never boring! Always delivered with style, wit, elegance and warmth; well dressed, well rehearsed and well spoken.
About
I love people, ideas, language and words. Life excites me and I find something to smile about everywhere I look - kittens, peonies, chocolate cake, clouds.....it's about being open to the world around me. I like to make things happen, to problem solve, to do all I can to ensure each couple has their perfect day. Creating memories - that's what it's all about.

thanks Hailey, so pleased you enjoyed working with me and after having to cancel in 2021 and reschedule to 2022, have to say it was worth the wait! I'll always think of you on Bastille Day.

how lucky we were to just make it through before the lock down on numbers and to have a location that allowed us to socially distance creatively. But no emotional distance from anyone there, so it was just a fabulous afternoon

Would love some ideas on how we can incorporate my late nan into our wedding. Thank you.

Life in many ways is a balancing act, in every moment of happiness can be found traces of sadness and in deep sorrow often a smile , even laughter sits just below the surface. For most of us, we are the people we are because of those who came before us - parents, grand parents, great grandparents, so they will always be a part of your unique character and therefore be present in spirit at your wedding.
Often the first choice is a candle lighting ceremony. But sometimes the touch of a memento makes it a more personal gesture. Did your late Nan have a favourite piece of jewellry that you could add to your gown or your hair? Could you wear her favourite perfume? Did she have a favourite saying or a poem that could be read?
Thinking of what she meant to you, what you loved most about her can often give you the clue as to what to do and a creative celebrant will always be able to craft the words that make the moment special and meaningful without bringing the mood down.
Does anyone do the classic vows anymore?
I___ take thee ___ to be my lawfully wedded ___. In sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, as long as we both shall live etc Just wondering

yes, sometimes couples do choose to add those traditional lines to the legal vows they have to say. Don't often have anyone choose to love, honour and obey though......But seriously, your personal vows are all about choosing sentiments that reflect who you are and what you feel.
How do I ensure my vows sound good enough?
Lise Rodgers-The Melbourne Marriage Celebrant
My advice to couples is to say what's in your heart. Don't try to be too clever, too witty, too emotional...and don't try too hard or you'll never feel that you're good enough. There is no right or wrong here. It's your moment, to say quite simply to each other, how YOU feel. So if you focus on that, what you say will always be special, meaningful and just right for you.

Joanna it was my pleasure. We had a really short lead up time, but we made it happen and it was a truly beautiful event.
