Nathan, as long as they are from the heart then you can't go wrong. Your Celebrant would give you a few samples as a heads-up on the tone and feel of how you should write yours. Around 10 lines maximum. I wish you all the best for your wedding day.
When should I start to think about hiring a Celebrant?
Roxy Rennie Marriage Celebrant
Hi Carli,
Best to be in contact with a Celebrant as soon as you've locked in your date, venue and ceremony time. Good Celebrants are, and love to be booked up in advance and for the popular months (Feb, March, October & November) it's best to be one of those couples who get their first choice of Celebrant. As much forward planning as possible takes out the stress factor.

Good celebrants know how to run the ceremony, run their schedule and allow enough contingency time. It all comes from experience and bears no impact on them being there for you wholly and solely for your ceremony. Legally, Celebrants need to arrive no less than 20 minutes before the ceremony starts. To me, that's cutting it very fine as there is people preparation to do.
Once your ceremony is completed, how long do you want the Celebrant to hang around for? Make clear your expectations of them at the first meeting. Straight after the ceremony you'll be heading off for photos, so a congrats, a goodbye, a selfie with you and then you should be left to enjoy family and friends on your day.
When you book in with a Celebrant, ask them if they have any other ceremonies on that day and if they dont, ask them if they wouldn't mind leaving at least a 2 hour gap before your ceremony - if anyone else want's to book them - so that you have peace of mind for your day.
