Additionally, Susanna has a superb knowledge of the ceremony planning process, and has many resources to help you come up with ideas (to have a song or poetry or both? Hmmm...) One of these resources is her book, Marry Me! A guide for couples planning their marriage ceremony. In this exceptional book is advice for writing personalised vows, choosing music, readings and even photographers - trust us, it’s got everything you need to plan an enjoyable, seamless wedding. By the end of the ceremony, you’ll be so thankful you had a celebrant who made the wedding planning process fun, stress-free and full of personal touches.
“Thank you Sue for doing such a wonderful job and making our wedding easy, personal and genuine. You made us feel instantly at ease when we first met, a feeling that continued right the way through the process. We couldn't have hoped for a more touching ceremony and will look back fondly on that day for many years to come.” Emma
What you can expect when you book Susanna Jose Ceremonies for your wedding:
“Sue was the perfect match for our wedding ceremony in May this year. She is genuine and lovely in her approach, and beautifully incorporated our words, wishes and experiences into the ceremony in a way that was perfectly us. Sue was incredibly easy to communicate with in organising the ceremony, and made herself available for a relaxed rehearsal the day before. We can highly recommend her.” Angela

What else would you like couples to know about what you do?
Susanna Jose can meet with couples or talk on the phone as many times as needed before their ceremony, and a wedding rehearsal is included in ceremony planning.
What’s your process with couples like?
Susanna Jose offers obligation-free meetings (although these are more like an informal chat) to help you see if she is the right fit for you and your wedding. From here, she will send you some documents, including a ‘Happily Ever Before and After’ brochure, which aims to educate couples on what it means to be a part of a marriage. Susanna will design your personalised ceremony based on your requests, needs and preferences, and will create a draft script that touches on your story, and includes any poetry, readings or music you’d like. Of course, you’ll need to fill out a Notice of Intended Marriage form (NOIM) at least one month before your wedding date. You might choose to have a ceremony rehearsal in the week before your wedding. Then finally, you marry! Afterwards, Susanna will submit all the legal paperwork to Births Deaths and Marriages in your state or territory to register the marriage.
“Sue gave us exactly the ceremony we were after and clearly communicated everything we needed to know. It was great to have her be a part of our day!” Hannah
“Sue created a beautiful marriage ceremony which was a perfect representation of us. She has a wonderful attention to detail and a great instinct for how to make a ceremony unique and unforgettable. Her commitment is evident in how she ensures all admin is completed in a timely manner, her presentation on the day itself and in our particular case, in that she still managed to make it out to our national park location in a moon boot-encased broken ankle! We can't recommend Sue enough!” Whitney

FAQ
Unfortunatley no. Remote weddings are not legal in Australia. The couple , the two witnesses and the celebrant all need to be present together.
What you can do remotely is:
If you need any information about the legalities of Australian marriages, always ask a celebrant listed on the website of the Attorney General's Department.
Most definitely, the children can be involved. Some lovely ways include:
As a couple you can incorporate a promise to the children as part of your own personal vows.
One last word...Children always do the best they can at a wedding. I have never yet seen a child muck up their special job. I've seen 18 month toddlers deliver the rings at the appropriate time, successfully.
Writing your own vows is entirely a matter of choice. You have to say the legal vows without change. Some couples are happy just for those. Others want to add their personal or surprise vows to the legal ones.
I have a chapter on writing vows in my book, MarryMe! A guide for couples planning their marriage ceremony, free to all couples confirming a booking with me.

Get Expert AdviceWhat should we be asking potential celebrants to make sure they're a good fit for us?
What are some of the things we need to consider or ask of a potential celebrant before we decide which one to go with?
Susanna Jose Ceremonies
A few good questions I have been asked:
1. Can we meet with you before we decide on our celebrant?
Response: Yes definitely.
2. What happens if you get sick or test positive for Covid on the wedding day?
Response: I immediately draw on my network of celebrants to find someone to do the ceremony, arrange for the transfer of documents and advise the couple about the steps involved.
3. We have been to a wedding where the celebrant made it all about themselves. How do we make sure we have the ceremony we want?
Response: Your ceremony is written after I obtain lots of information about you as a couple, what you want and don't want. I will have ensured you are absolutely happy with the words.
Can use your marriage certificate to change you middle name to you Maiden name?
Wondering if you can change your name from [First name] [Middle Name] [Maiden Name] to [First name] [Maiden Name] [Spouse's Surname] using just your marriage certificate. I am looking to replace my existing middle name with my Maiden name after our wedding.

Hi,
First you will need to apply to the relevant Births Deaths and Marriages department in your state or territory to obtain your registered marriage certificate. This is different from the commemorative one presented by the celebrant on the wedding day. Second you apply for a name change through Births Deaths and Marriages using your marriage certificate and identity documents in support.
I hope that helps.
Cheers Sue
How many people can you have at the moment with the virus?
Susanna Jose Ceremonies
You will need to check the Health Department website of your state or territory regularly, because the rules are different in each. As we all know they have been subject to rapid change this year too. It is a good idea to have a discussion with your celebrant about contingency plans for if things change for you.
