OVERVIEW
Hey, I’m Natalie! A couple of years ago I had a crazy idea that turned into a real thing. I became a Marriage Celebrant and began a new journey celebrating love stories with others! The Celebrant Co was born from my desire to serve my community in a positive, conscientious and purposeful manner. It's been pretty successful and now, I'm a 100% 5 star supplier!
My job is more than marrying people. What sets me apart is treating you like my friends. My job is to guide you through the legal process of getting married, help create a ceremony which is special to you, encourage you to feel relaxed and comfortable and deliver a ceremony which you’ll remember for a lifetime. A collaborative approach centred on genuine relationships and mutual connections means we can share your love in an honest, authentic and meaningful way and create the perfect ceremony together. My style of ceremonies are light, modern and heartfelt, designed to capture your unique personalities, life together and the love you have for each other. Ceremony content is based on core values, using a story telling narrative to reflect your experiences together. Essentially it will look, sound and feel like you and be conveyed in a way that you and your guests feel connected to.
I specialise in Premium wedding ceremonies and Elopement ceremonies but also perform Legals only and Commitment ceremonies.
Premium ceremony
This is the most popular, comprehensive and flexible ceremony option. These styles of ceremonies are light, modern and heartfelt, designed to capture all the details of your personality, your life together and the love you have for each other. The script is completely unique and hand written for you. Each ceremony requires about 20 hours of work behind the scenes including ongoing communication, ceremony drafting, and meetings so your
ceremony is delivered seamlessly on your day.
Elopement ceremony
Perfect for those who want to get hitched in front of their nearest and dearest in an intimate ceremony. It’s a warm, personal, simple and short ceremony with all the legals and some personalisation to you to make it yours.
Legals only ceremony
This covers the legal minimums required to be married in Australia. It is a short, no fuss, generic ceremony which will have you ready to pop a champagne and celebrate in no time. Script personalisation is not available beyond legal minima. The benefit of this compared to the Registry Office is that you get your Celebrant and ceremony location of choice. It's a much sexier option!
Commitment ceremony
For those who don’t want to be legally married but still feel the love and want to make a commitment to each other. A warm, personal, simple and short public declaration of love and commitment, in a non-legally binding ceremony.

"Kirk and I wanted to say a big thank you for your services as our celebrant, you were amazing in all facets (10/10)! We have received so many compliments from our guests about our ceremony and your delivery, the fact that everyone said it was warm and full of love and laughter means that it represented us perfectly. We really did enjoy every minute of it! We'll definitely keep in touch and can we just say, you're an asset to the celebrant industry - future couples are so lucky to have you!"

Thanks so much for stopping by. Becoming a Marriage Celebrant has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I have done to date. For me, it's a real honour to be part of a couples most precious day and I feel an enormous amount of happiness as I watch them make that commitment together. To be legally married in Australia, a person must:
Yes, the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be received no earlier than 18 months and no later than 1 month before the date the marriage is solemnised.
Births, Deaths and Marriages:
The Certificate of Marriage with the Declaration Of No Legal Impediment on the reverse, together with Notice Of Intended Marriage (plus any other required documents) must be forwarded by the Marriage Celebrant to the BDM in the state or territory where the marriage was solemnised. This must occur within 14 days of the marriage.
The couple:
The couple is given a ceremonial Certificate of Marriage by the Marriage Celebrant after the wedding ceremony.
The Marriage Celebrant:
The Marriage Celebrant keeps one Certificate of Marriage for their records.
Yes. The couple needs to apply for a Standard Marriage Certificate.
Only a Standard Marriage Certificate can be used for official purposes and proof of change of name through marriage. A Standard Marriage Certificate can be used when applying to government agencies and banks.Applications for a Standard Marriage Certificate can be made online directly through the state/territory BDM. Applications are made by the couple after the marriage has been solemnised and registered. Usually allow a few weeks for the marriage to be registered. Applications incur an additional cost as per the BDM, just check online for the most up to date details. In QLD, a Standard Marriage Certificate with registered post costs $54.70 (prices correct as of July 2019).
No. Many people choose to use their spouse’s family name once they are married—it’s a custom and not the law. If you were married in Australia, you generally don't need to apply formally for a change of name. Usually personal documentation, such as your driver licence and passport, can be changed to your married name when you provide a standard marriage certificate (Source: BDM QLD). Search or contact your state/territory BDM for more information.
Trust your gut and choose someone that you click with. The right one will make you feel at ease and they will be more than happy to help whenever needed. If they seem off, contact someone else. Same goes for all the other wedding vendors too.
Yes. While I am Brisbane based, I am happy to travel anywhere from Byron Bay to Toowoomba to Sunshine Coast!
Everyone needs/wants something different ranging from budget to premium options and that's why a variation exists. However, the old adage “You get what you pay for” usually rings true. Marriage Celebrant fees range from $200 - $1500. A wedding at the Brisbane Registry office alone ranges from $350-600.
I offer a premium and completely flexible service. I prefer an educational approach so couples understand what is actually involved creating and delivering a completely bespoke ceremony just for them. I spend on average 15-20 hours meeting with and working on each couples ceremony. I am also a legit business, which means I have to have been educated to become a Marriage Celebrant, pay annual registration fees, I am part of professional Associations and networks, I have to complete ongoing annual professional development, pay insurances, purchase and maintain equipment and service other overheads.
Yes! There’s so much I can share with you, but here’s the top 4:
Get in contact with me and we can tee up a coffee/beer to get to know each other and chat about your vision and plans. It’s ok if you don’t know exactly what you want just yet! We can run through a whole bunch of scenarios and ideas together.
