FAQ

Getting married is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make with each other. It is an exciting time and often, we get caught up in the rush of making sure we have everything we want for our special day. We want the best of the best. But where do you start? First and Foremost, it's important to sit down and talk about the type of wedding you see yourselves celebrating. Set yourselves a budget and start working towards the wedding of your dreams. Remember that Choosing your Celebrant is an Investment, not just a "How Much".

Choosing a celebrant that you feel comfortable with and who will provide you with everything you require for your special day is a huge commitment. I believe in creating powerful, respectful and unique ceremonies that are tailored to your individual needs, fusing those elements of love that are a true reflection of who you are in your relationship.

Your Celebrant will give you a folio of the services they offer, what to expect throughout the process legally and different ideas you can use for your ceremony. At this stage, they will also give you a rundown of their costs, the information that is required from you and by what dates this information is needed, in order to proceed with your ceremony.

It is always a good idea to speak with a few different Marriage Celebrants to gain an understanding of what you are looking for. Ask yourself – Are they friendly? Am I getting the correct information? Are they professional? Are they qualified? Are they registered? Are they fully insured, and the most importantly, are they willing to work with you to achieve your dream wedding?

People often describe me as happy, helpful, open- minded, energetic and extremely organised. Did I mention also a perfectionist!!

Meet me and see for yourself! Personality is the key and you will know straight away if a Celebrant is right for you.

Celebrants usually book out dates well in advance so it is important to speak to a few to make sure you are investing your time and energy into someone who will work with your vision and provide you with the service that demands your utmost attention.

I'm based in Manly West, Brisbane and I travel everywhere.

Fusion Elements has a unique range of packages to suit everyone’s styles, allowing for the flexibility of couples personalities to enhance the specialness and elegance of your day.

Travel is included within every package to make it affordable no matter what the style of wedding will be.

I get to work in some amazing places all over Australia so ask me for some venue recommendations if you are considering a destination wedding.

There are so many different Rituals that can be included and it really does come down to personal preference and whether it reflects your own personalities as a couple. From traditional, cultural, spiritual, religious or family come many symbolic gestures that may have special or different meanings to be celebrated. We live in a multi-cultural society and couples like to acknowledge traditions from their own heritage. This helps the couple to retain their own connection with their tradition/culture.

Favourite rituals/symbolic gestures that I have come across so far include:

·         Candle lighting to represent either side of the family or to acknowledge the deceased / people not being in attendance.

·         The releasing of butterflies

·         The giving away / Blessing / Presentation of the bride

·         Sand Unity / Family blending

·         Hand fastening ceremony

·         Congregation blessing of the couple

·         Music, poetry or stories

·         Exchanging of wedding rings

·         Time capsules, planting wedding trees

·         Theme: Hindu, Medieval, beach, country, garden

Whatever the ritual, it gives your guests a sense of belonging and specialness in the eyes of the couple and can be seen to strengthen the bond between the couple depending on the chosen ritual.

As a celebrant, being open to suggestion and being able to perform any type of cultural / tradition ritual is a given. If we are not certain how to perform it, then we research it, practice it and learn it. A ritual can create a powerful moment between the couple involved and evoke a sense of deepened love not felt before towards one another. It is a privilege and honour to sometimes be asked to be a part of that and make it all happen.

Felicity is an absolutely fabulous celebrant! She personalised our ceremony perfectly and made it the best it could be. Felicity's super personable, down to earth and super easy to work with! (And she put up with me changing my mind a few times without complaint!)

Felicity was easy to deal with from when we first met her until the day of the wedding. Felicity went above and beyond by not only hosting our ceremony but also assisting the photographer with group / family photos after the wedding.

We were delighted that we had Felicity as our celebrant. She made us feel very comfortable and was so organised. She made the whole experience from the planning stages through to the ceremony stress free. She made sure that we were centre stage and put us at ease on the day and throughout the ceremony. We really enjoyed working with Felicity and are so grateful that she was able to make it such a special day of us.

Have you ever made a mistake in a ceremony? Like saying a name wrong or anything?

Fusion Elements - Felicity McShane Marriage Celebrant

For myself, it is so important to ensure that every ceremony is delivered to the best it can be. It's really important for me to be immersed in the story that I deliver on behalf of my couples. Getting their names right the first time and every time is a must. To ensure that my fusion clients get the best from me, I commit by presenting only 1 wedding a day so that I can be fully engaged with what I need to do for my couple, giving them 100% effort and being in the moment with them every time. Occasionally you do get tongue tied but never with names. The paperwork tricks us Celebrants use to make sure we pronounce names correctly are all part of the delivery for our gorgous brides and grooms.

Can I request my celebrant to wear a certain colour or outfit?

I've seen some awful clashing outfits and celebrants in white etc... is it rude to ask them to wear a particular colour or style? I don't know if I'm taking it way too far haha. But I want everything to look good! It is my wedding day, after all :)

Not at all. It is a conversation that needs to be had more often.

We have friends that are getting married after us and have invited us, do we need to invite them too?

They're my fiance's friends, I really don't know them very well at all. I haven't spent any time with them and they don't seem important in his life. He hasn't mentioned inviting them, but it seems like the right thing to do. Our wedding is going to be very limited though, about 60 people with half of those being my family. Not sure if we're obligated to invite them or not.

Fusion Elements - Felicity McShane Marriage Celebrant

The simple answer to this is No. However, based on the information that you have given us to go by, if your guest numbers are limited, you could wait until you get your final rsvp's and put them on a reserve list (if you feel the need to invite them out of obligation) should another couple be unable to make it. Either that or just go out and celebrate your weddings together afterwards in a small intimate dinner, where you will get to know them better.
