OVERVIEW

Choosing the right celebrant for your special day is very important. You need someone who will guide you through the process of getting married, firstly starting with the paperwork.

To help your planning I would love to:

  • Meet you and your fiance in the comfort of your own home as I am happy to travel to discover what you wish for your wedding day!
  • Provide you with copies of wedding ceremonies so you know what goes into a ceremony, then help to prepare yours. I have copies of readings that you may like to include and other rituals that you may lik to incorporate.
  • Send you drafts of the ceremony so you can make any changes you see fit before finalising your ceremony.
  • Conduct a rehearsal at the site of your wedding in order to practice the arrival of the bridal/wedding party so that everything runs smoothly on your wedding day.

I have an excellent presentation style and will ensure everyone is able to hear the ceremony. I am flexible and can conduct formal and relaxed wedding ceremonies - the choice is yours. I am culturally sensative and have conducted weddings for many people coming from different nationalities.

I have conducted weddings in many locations including Werribee Park, Ripponlea, the Dandenong’s, Yarra Valley, the Mornington Peninsula, Geelong and the Belarine Peninsula, a launch on the Yarra, on stage at the Athenaeum Theatre, parks, private homes and beaches. I've even travelled to country areas and interstate.

The location of your ceremony is your choice so I’ll be there. As you can't trust Melbourne's weather it is always a good idea to have a venue back up plan for days of heavy rain.

If you're living overseas or interstate and wish to have a destination Victoria wedding I can assist you with planning for your special day from assisting you to complete all legal documents to recommending locations, florists, videographers and photographers. Some of my clients have travelled from Hong Kong, Newfoundland, Indonesia, China and Canada.

Yes. I can perform weddings for non Australian citizens as long as it’s on Australian soil. Non Australian citizens are required to complete the Notice Of Intented Marriage and have it witnessed by a representative from an Australian Consulate, Embassy or Trade Commission. Once your wedding is booked I can assist you with procedures to complete and have your Notice completed and witnessed.

I can legally perform a “wedding” only on Australian soil and on the Torres Straight Islands but can perform a Renewal Of Vows or Commitment Ceremony anywhere. I’ve even performed a Renewal Of Vows Ceremony as far as London.

On some occasions couples who are hearing impaired or are unable to speak or understand English may need to engage the services of an interpreter. I can provide details and contacts for you to use interpreter services if required.

I am able to travel to your wedding destination depending on individual circumstances – please contact me for a chat.

We were very happy to have Trevor there officiating our ceremony. Everyone enjoyed the program he had put together. Even prior to our big day, he was very helpful with information and suggestions for the ceremony.

If you are married, can you still be maid of honour in a Catholic Church

Trevor Rice Celebrant

I'm neither a Catholic nor a priest but I am older and I believe that the Maid of Honour is unmarried while the Matron of Honour is a married person. Anyway the Maid or Matron of Honour is treated just like another bridesmaid and has to smooth the dress after the bride;s entrance.

Advice for having your dog in your ceremony

Would love some advice! We def want to include our dog in our wedding ceremony! We want him as the ring bearer. Are they are any things to avoid or prepare for in advance? Thanks!

Trevor Rice Celebrant

Often couples have their dog as the ring bearer. Often the dog is placed at the front and is on a lead or kept somewhere else for the duration of the ceremony. In some instances, if the dog is well trained it is allowed to run to the couple unleashed so the rings can be untied. If there is some concern about the dog's behaviour it can be walked to the couple while on the lead and the rings untied.

Some venues may have a no animal policy or there are strict guidelines in place for the accommodation of the dog following the ceremony, so it's always a good idea to enquire first.

Anything we need to consider or do differently for a weekday wedding?

Hi there. We're considering a weekday wedding, maybe a Thursday or Sunday. Is there anything ] different or unexpected we'd need to consider about having a non-Saturday wedding?

Trevor Rice Celebrant

One thing to consider if you're having  wedding at around 10:00am in the Yarra Valley is that there is morning peak hour traffic particularly on the Eastern freeway and around Princess street. Also if you're having an afternoon wedding there, you have to consider the afternoon peak period from around 2:30pm as this adds on time for your journey. Most tradies knock off at around then particularly on a Friday.

For me there's no difference and many of my clients choose an auspicious day so I'm happy to accommodate them. Some guests may find it difficult to leave work but some of my midweek weddings are small.
