FAQ

Custom, tailored, and made-to-measure means that you will be given the ability to choose every custom detail of your specific design and that the garment will be made-to-measure, to your unique measurements and design.

Off-The-Rack

When purchasing a suit or shirt off the rack, your garment will have been mass produced, using standard measurements, a standard pattern and someone else’s design. Buying off-the-rack is not always the fastest or cheapest option—if you don't fit a standard size perfectly, on top of the cost price, you will also need to pay alteration costs and to add insult to injury, you will need to repeat this costly process each time you purchase off-the-rack.

Suit Hire

When it comes to hiring a suit or shirt, you will be hiring a standard sized garment that is non-adjustable. It is also likely that the items you hire will have been worn previously by several people (that you don't know might we add) and dry-cleaned after each use, so the fabric may be faded, its fibres weak and the quality compromised. Suit hire isn’t always the cheaper option, when you consider you aren’t actually getting something tangible to keep and reuse when parting with your money.

Custom, Tailored, Made-to-Measure

InStitchu is a true custom, tailored, made-to-measure suiting experience. Put simply, this means your garment will be made to your unique custom design and will fit you and only you, perfectly.

Specifically, custom, means you can choose every detail, big or small, from the fabric, to how many buttons, to which buttons, to the collar, to the cuff, to the pick stitching and so much more–your order will be custom made exactly to your specific design.

Tailored, and made-to-measure means your garment will be created by our Savile Row trained tailors, to your specific measurements. At InStitchu you have the added benefit too that your measurements will be saved to your online profile (and can be updated if you need some tweaking), making re-ordering painless.

InStitchu has broken down the barrier and turned traditional custom, tailored pricing on its head, bringing high quality, custom, tailored suits to gentlemen from $499 and custom, tailored shirts from $89. This price point is extremely competitive with off-the-rack (in many instances cheaper than off-the-rack) and a much better investment than hiring a suit over and over again. Trust us when we say, once you a buy custom, tailored and made-to-measure you won’t look back...

InStitchu is not a bespoke menswear company—there are a few key differences between bespoke and made-to-measure, don’t get confused— allow us to clarify!

Bespoke

When creating a bespoke garment, a ‘bespoke’ pattern is created for each individual, for each garment according to their specific measurements and design. Achieving a bespoke fit requires multiple fittings (usually five plus fittings) during the creation of the garment, then following that, once the garment is created, more fittings are usually needed to perfect the fit further. Given the amount of workmanship involved to design and construct a bespoke garment, true bespoke items are almost always costly, with prices to be expected in at least the $2,000+ range.

Made-to-Measure

Made-to-measure uses a block pattern that is modified to the customer’s specific measurements and design. Achieving a made-to-measure fit requires one fitting before the creation of the garment. A made-to-measure garment does not require a post construction fitting - unless some small tweaks are required.

We used Institchu for the Groom and Groomsmen's suits. They all picked their materials they preferred. They were all the best quality and fit perfectly. We had the Grooms suit embroidered with the wedding date inside and everyone was comfortable all night. Highly recommend.

Having tried on suits in store and not finding anything we liked, we ordered a custom tuxedo from Insitchu. We were surprised about how affordable it was, particularly given the custom nature of it.

Looking for tailored made suits for your bridal party that won't break your wallet too hard? Then Institchu is a good place to try. They even do discounts based on how big your group is, so the more bridal party members you have, the bigger the discount. On average, we spent roughly $1k for each suit and collared shirt for the big day. That's pretty good for tailored made. Just bare in mind they do have a lot of customers coming through, so you might need to make multiple trips if your measurements come up a little short.

I have blush bridesmaids dresses and don't know what suits would go best with this colour?

Friends of mine have said a navy however my fiance wasn't the biggest fan when he tried on a navy suit.

InStitchu

Hi there,

Blush pink is a beautiful choice for bridesmaid's dresses and as it is a soft colour, it's best to go with navy, grey or charcoal in suiting. If you partner is not too keen on navy you can go for a lighter or blended blue colour, for example at InStitchu we have fabric 10 which is a blend of charcoal/blue and would compliment well. (not the typical navy!)
Alternatively in terms of charcoal, a lighter tone works well as it's not too dark and doesn't overpower the colour of the bridesmaids.

If you are going down the tailor made suit option, the groom and groomsmen also usually have options of what lining colours they would like which you could use as a way to tie in the colour of the dresses.
Hope this helps!

What should my groom wear to match my vintage 60s wedding dress?

InStitchu

Hi there,

Thanks for your query!

Depending on the tone of your dress, a linen or wool suit in a light colour, navy or blue would compliment well. We would also suggest brown accessories such as shoes and/or belt to match.
