Ideas for a second reception dress/outfit

Hello. I'm thinking of changing into a different outfit for our reception... what are some ideas for a second dress or outfit that could complement a classic ballgown?

Hi

I would suggest either a sheath or mini style dress as a complete contrast! It would depend on your body shape and what would suit you best but that's a start from me! Have fun with it but keep it classy and elegant!

I personally love a second look for the reception. There are a lot of different styles you could go for in your second look that would complement your classic bridal style. What you choose should also complement your personality and your individual sense of style.

In saying that I think it’s important to decide whether you’re going to change immediately upon arrival to your reception and do your entrance, first dance, and cake cutting in the new dress or outfit, or if you’re going to continue to wear your classic ballgown during all the official moments of the reception and then once the party gets started change into your new outfit.

If you’re going to change immediately upon entering the reception I would go for something may be a little bit slimmer in a silhouette, but still invoking that classic ballgown feel. An example would be the Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton), and what she changed into for the reception at her wedding. It was a paired back version of your ceremony gown, but still that classic silhouette. The strapless corset with the circle skirt in a satin which was just beautiful and then she had a little shrug to complement. You could also go for a dress with a similar neckline, a figure hugging skirt, all in a sparkle or beaded fabric.

If you’re going to change into something for the party element of your reception you could go for a shorter version of your wedding dress, and kick up your heels in a pair of show stopping shoes.

Or perhaps a jumpsuit with the same details as the bodice of your ballgown.

If you are having trouble making up your mind, or not sure where to start. It may be an idea to sit down with a designer where you can discuss all the details of your gown and reception outfit.
