I don't think there would be any downsides to a weekday wedding. This is a great way to save money and when organising a wedding, every little bit helps.
The biggest concern couples have about a midweek wedding is they fear it will interfere with their guests' work schedule. I think once you start planning, you will find that it shouldn't be an issue. The most important people will be there and your guests would have had enough notice to organise a day off and you will find that it shouldn't be an issue.
If I could advise an idea. Try to do this in summer and have a later ceremony an reception.
Reasons:
Daylight savings allows enough time for photos, guests can come after work (leave a little early) so they can actually take the day after off rather than the wedding day itself. If it's later, you the bride, probably also don't have to be up at 5am for makeup.
There are so many ways to save money on your wedding, this is one of them and at the end of the day, your wedding is about you. Those that care, will be there no matter what.
