FAQ
The most important thing you should know, are the Legal Requirements that must be completed before a Ceremony can be performed.
'The Notice of Intended Marriage' found at: www.ag.gov.au should be completed and sighted then witnessed by a Celebrant no later than one month prior to your wedding date.
This document is then kept by your Celebrant.
A statutory declaration form will also be completed before your Wedding as well as a Certificate of Marriage.
When the Ceremony is completed the Celebrant will lodge all Documents with Births Deaths and Marriages.
The documents you require to complete the NOIM are your original Birth Certificates , or Overseas Passport if you were born Overseas.
If you were previously divorced or a spouse is deceased you also require appropriate evidence of either.
Please download The NOIM from The Attorney General's Website as sighting the document will give a little bit of clarity.
The minimum wording legally required for your vows are:
"I call upon the persons here present to witness that I 'John X / Jane Y' take thee 'Jane Y / John X' to be my lawful wedded wife / husband.
Yes, as long as the minimum requirement (the words in the question above) are stated prior to your own pledges or promises.
Yes I have a portable PA system which is included in the fee and I also have iPod connectivity if you wish to use your own music rather than live music.
Yes and tablecloth all included in the fee.

Get Expert AdviceIs it rude to give a couple a gift when they have said no gifts?
I really don't feel comfortable not giving them anything... But they said no gifts/wishingwell on the invitation!
Linda Marsden 'The Celebrant'
Hi Luna S.
I think that you should look upon the Invitation request as a blessing in disguise as they would prefer to have cash go into the wishing well and you don't have to worry about a suitable gift.
You can give a beautiful card, and place the same amount of cash in the card as you would spend on a gift. You won't be judged, after all you are obviously special enough to be a guest, and they have a plan of what they will spend the cash on. It is quite a custom in some cultures to give money.
Relax and Enjoy.

How long would I require a celebrant for?
Generally, when couples book a celebrant how long do they book them for?
Linda Marsden 'The Celebrant'
Hi Lucy,
Each Celebrant manage their timings differently but need to work within a time frame that is affordable and reasonable for all involved.
At the end of THE DAY,you will be happy to have your Celebrant on board with plenty of time,as it will be reflected in your Ceremony.
On the day, the minimum requirement is to be on site around 20 mins before the Ceremony ,with Ceremony averaging 30 mins though many as ,I do, allow more time before as I like to be set up before guests arrive and allow time for some selfies with the couple after as well as farewells. It is not unusual to have your Celebrant for 12 months out.
When you engage your Celebrant they are part of your life as they will first meet with you to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage and discuss your vision for your Wedding day. This could be 45 mins to 1.5 hours. As already mentioned most Celebrants don't charge by the hour and as much as you will probably converse via text and email for different reasons, over the months before its hard to be specific.I personally have one other meeting and a rehearsal included in my SET FEE,as well as PA and Legal compliance's.
If you go with your instincts Lucy when choosing your Celebrant, the time and Fee will not be as important. Definitely know what is included though.Enjoy your day.
Warmest Regards
Linda Marsden
